Satellite Theme for July/August Series commencing July 5th It’s about equipping people with a liberty to practice their faith from Monday to Saturday. Sunday may be the common context for gathered worship and celebration, but it is often where we place most of our Christian resources to the detriment of where we spend the majority of our time such as at work, school, the sports club, places of rest and recreation! Typically the pattern of the Bible is that God worked, rested, was satisfied and didn’t waste His resources (both human, tangible and philosophical). So why should we? Jesus’ call to follow was a holistic call. Is there any area of our life that He should not be Lord of? Issues we might tackle: Stewardship of our time and resources Ethics in the workplace/pastoral mentoring Vocation as the place where we live out the call to follow Jesus Disciplines of work and rest. Do we have a Sabbath? What is mission and worship outside of Sunday? Integrity and values (reflecting: “it’s a Jesus thing”) What does it mean for Christians to redeem our society in such a way that is salt and light, not judgement and legalism? The difference between laity and the ordained. Are we not all responsible to the Great Commission? The wise use of technology such as cell phones and multi-media Where does family fit in the Kingdom? 2nd to God surely! Order, balance, health and the rithyms of life A costly faith/to suffer as Jesus suffered/place of the Cross |
